Routes
Roads worth riding, wherever they take you.
Three Scoops of Dover
52.06 km · 463 m elevation
Three Scoops of Dover is a favorite for a reason. It hits that perfect sweet spot of rolling terrain, scenic farmland, and sections of great road infrastructure, all packed into a route that feels like a true escape just outside the city. Be careful on the return to Newton through Needham. Some of those roads can be busy.
Joey's Sweet 16
42.74 km · 291 m elevation
Joey Farrell is the mastermind behind this route and recommends you tackle this ride on an early weekend morning. You don't want to be on Route 16 with too much traffic. Early hours also helps avoid pedestrian traffic on the Cochituate and Mass Central Rail Trails.
Harvard General Store
111.26 km · 1,041 m elevation
A proper day out. The route winds through some of the most scenic countryside in Metro West, passing historic landmarks and taking full advantage of the Mass Central Rail Trail. The Harvard General Store is the destination — stop for an espresso or settle in for a full meal.
Flight of the Concord
53.03 km · 416 m elevation
A classic ride to Concord. Head west on the Mass Central Rail Trail until you hit Wayland center. Then wind your way to downtown Concord. You'll have your pick of coffee shops but Haute Coffee is the go-to. Public restrooms at the chamber of commerce building and a water fountain can be found on the town square. Don't forget to drink in the American history.
America's Switzerland
131.59 km · 2,346 m elevation
Get ready to climb. Climb a bit more. And then climb some more after that. The highlight of this route is Mount Greylock, of course. Enjoy the climb up, the amazing views, and the very fast descent. There are plenty of food options in North Adams to refuel along the way.
Hungry Lion
123.98 km · 1,947 m elevation
A charity ride hosted by the Deerfield Valley Lions. It's a great event with lovely roads and good company. There is some potential for gravel in this area of Vermont if you are up for some adventure.
Paradise Lost
176.02 km · 1,242 m elevation
A one way route starting in Newton, MA with Maine as the destination — Drakes Island to be specific. There is plenty to see along the way, including the forgettable Hampton Beach. If you start early enough, Portsmouth makes a great lunch stop.
Kennebunk & Kennebunkport
36.75 km · 229 m elevation
A coastal Maine favorite. Roll through Kennebunkport and Kennebunk with the Atlantic doing its best supporting actor work the whole way. The unofficial destination is Meriland Farms where you can refuel with a hearty breakfast. Bring layers as even summer mornings can be a bit chilly.
Pie in the Sky
51.8 km · 220 m elevation
A Cape Cod classic. Start at Waquoit Bay and wind your way down to Woods Hole, finishing with coffee and breakfast at Pie in the Sky. Go early. Morning Cape traffic doesn't stay quiet for long.
Keeping it Low Key
36.6 km · 70 m elevation
If you ever find yourself in Miami this is a classic route. Up and over the Rickenbacker is always fun but the real highlight is all the other riders and pelotons on the road. Miami has a terrific bike culture. Don't forget to enjoy an espresso at one of the many cafes in Coconut Grove when you are done.
Pico del Veleta via Hazallanas
94.79 km · 2,644 m elevation
An unforgettable climb outside of Granada. It's very likely a pro or two will buzz by you on the way up or down, as many stay in the village for altitude camps. Hazallanas is also regularly featured on La Vuelta. Bonus — the road up to the peak is the highest paved road in Europe.
Costa Brava & Els Angels
134.05 km · 2,016 m elevation
An ideal loop starting and ending in Girona, Spain. The climbs are majestic, the Mediterranean is magical, and the villages are picturesque. Els Angels has long been a favorite of the pros who train out of Girona — and once you've done it yourself, you'll understand why.
